Discover Entrepreneurship Summer Program

High school students attending Dayton Public Schools and DECA are invited to apply to the University of Dayton Discover Entrepreneurship Summer Program, hosted by the L. William Crotty Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership

Through immersive and interactive experiences at The Hub powered by PNC Bank, students will build their professional skills and learn to apply essential business practices to design their own business plans and pitch their business idea in a final pitch competition. 

Our curriculum helps students identify viable business opportunities and explores how such opportunities are transformed into new ventures. Eemphasis is placed on how entrepreneurial ventures successfully compete for financial resources, identify and reach their target market, and establish business processes and systems.

Students who successfully complete the program will receive three college credit hours through the University of Dayton regardless of admissions status. If students are Interested in attending the university, they have an opportunity to compete for scholarships at the program's pitch competition finale.

The Discover ENT summer program is open to rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

Discover ENT Experience Highlights

Earn three college credits and compete to win up to $40,000 in scholarship funds to attend the University of Dayton in an interactive pitch competition.

Meet local entrepreneurs and business resource providers who can give first-hand experiences and advice on how to become a successful entrepreneur and build a strong business mindset.

Experience the University of Dayton campus, the School of Business Administration, and some of UD’s unique facilities including The Hub Powered by PNC Bank at the Dayton Arcade in downtown Dayton.

To apply for the Discover ENT Summer Program students must meet the following criteria:

Program applications will be reviewed by Crotty Center staff at the University of Dayton. Applicants will be notified of their selection status the week of April 24, 2023

  1. Students must have a 2.9 GPA to participate in the program
    • Note: If students would like to apply the University of Dayton, they must meet the GPA and standard requirements for admission
  2. Be available for the entirety of the two-week program at the Hub powered by PNC Bank.
  3. Students must complete a 500-word essay answering the following questions:
    • What do business and entrepreneurship mean to you?
    • Do you see yourself as an entrepreneur? Why?
    • Why should you be accepted into the program?

When:

June 5, 2023 - June 16, 2023. The timeline for the program is Monday - Friday from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Cost:

No cost to participants! Limited capacity is available.

Frequently Asked Questions

Scholarships must be used to attend the University of Dayton. The credits may or may not be accepted at another university. The participant or family can check with the university’s Student Services department to determine if the credit will be accepted.

Yes! The students will have the opportunity to visit other businesses in West Dayton and the downtown Dayton area. There will be a student welcome package provided to each participant/family with permission slips to each location. The welcome package will include registration, consent, release, and medical authorization documents. 

BIZ 201: Introduction to Business (3 Credit Hours)

Breakfast and lunch will be provided at no additional cost.


The program will be located at 31 S. Main Street, Dayton, OH 45402 near the main bus line.


Metered parking is available around the building.


Participation in this program does not guarantee admission into the University of Dayton. Please contact admissions to learn more about the requirements to attend.


Admissions

All attendees must be present and complete all days of the program to earn college credit and scholarships.
